Sources: United call all players back to U.K.

Manchester United have told their players who are not in the United Kingdom to return although there is not yet a planned return to training, sources have told ESPN.

Members of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad who have been isolating overseas during the coronavirus pandemic have been told to arrive back in England this week.

They have not yet been told when to report back to Carrington, which has been closed to the majority of players and staff since the Premier League was suspended on March 13.

Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Victor Lindelof and Sergio Romero were among the players given permission to leave England after consultation with Solskjaer and the club's medical staff.

Fernandes, a January signing from Sporting Lisbon, has already returned. The club do not expect that players arriving from overseas will have to enter quarantine beyond the measure already put in place by the U.K. government.

The Premier League is hopeful of resuming the current campaign in June -- potentially at neutral venues behind closed doors -- but the proposals have not yet been given the green light.

United's players have been training at home with the help of individual fitness programmes and specialist equipment.

Solskjaer's team are fifth in the table, three points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, with nine games remaining.
