PEVELY, Mo. – Billy Moyer led every lap of Saturday’s Karl Chevrolet 50 to pocket a $7,000 payday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55.
Moyer started from the outside pole after winning his heat race and took the lead of the race on the opening circuit. He never gave the lead up throughout the 50-lap feature, but he did survive a late-race scare.
While working traffic with three laps left Moyer nearly opened the door for reigning World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series champion Brandon Sheppard, who stuck his nose under Moyer in turn two.
Moyer turned back the challenge and held on to win at the third-mile dirt oval, with Sheppard crossing the line in second. It was Moyer’s 841st dirt late model victory during his legendary career.
Devin Moran finished third, followed by Tanner English and Kyle Bronson.
The finish:
Billy Moyer, Brandon Sheppard, Devin Moran, Tanner English, Kyle Bronson, Frank Heckenast Jr., Tyler Erb, Brian Shirley, Bobby Pierce, Shannon Babb, Tim Manville, Jason Feger, Dennis Erb Jr., Mark Voigt, Jake Timm, Billy Moyer Jr., Kody Evans, Jeff Herzog, Rusty Schlenk, Ryan Unzicker, Daryn Klein, Chris Simpson, Allen Weisser.
