CONCORD, N.C. – As motorsports slowly gets rolling again after a nearly two-month shutdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic, two 410 winged sprint car races were run over the weekend and the National Sprint Car Rankings have been updated accordingly.
Still, only three regions have competed this year, with 17 features having been run through May 10.
The Mid-America region kicked off Saturday at St. Francois County Raceway in Missouri with USAC ace Tyler Courtney claiming the victory in a rare winged sprint car start.
Meanwhile, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series resumed at Iowa’s Knoxville Raceway, with David Gravel winning what was classified as the second feature of the season in the Great Plains region. Ian Madsen leads the standings in that region.
Idle since mid-March, the Eastern region has contested 14 features so far, with Pennsylvania standout Danny Dietrich on top of the standings. Dietrich currently leads the country in 410 sprint car starts, with 14 to his credit after Friday’s Knoxville event.
Pennsylvania-based driver Brock Zearfoss ranks second in both the Eastern region and the Great Plains region.
