YUCCA VALLEY, Calif. – Veteran Southern California open wheel racer Jeff Dyer has decided enough is enough and it is time to go racing.

On May 23-24 at Adobe Mountain Speedway in Glendale, Ariz., Dyer Motorsports is presenting the Salute to Indy for Lightning Sprint Cars.

The two-night show, which has drawn entries from Lightning Sprints in California and as far away as Colorado, the state of Washington and possibly South Dakota, will pay $1,000 to win and $100 to start in Sunday’s 33-lap main event.

In addition, $1,025 in lap money has been pledged for the Sunday night show, meaning a driver who leads every lap will take home a minimum of $2,025.

Saturday’s 25-lap preliminary main will see the winner getting $500.

“It is time to get off the couch and go racing,” Dyer said. “Everyone is chomping at the bit to race, including me. A huge thank you to all the sponsors who have kicked in cash and contingencies. The purse is very nice, and a driver can possibly take home over $2,000 if they win on Sunday night. Even if a driver only leads the last lap of that main, he will pocket $1,100. That is a very nice payout in Lightning Sprint racing.”

In addition to the main event purses, money and contingencies are spread throughout the shows.

The Cory Kruseman Sprint Car and Midget Driving School is paying $100 each night for the Hard Luck Driver, while Mike Nehring has donated $50 for Saturday’s main event hard charger.

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series has donated a right rear tire to the 10th-place finisher in Saturday’s main event and there is $200 up for the lightning sprint driver who tows the farthest to get to the race.

Gates will open at 3 p.m., with a public address pit meeting at 5 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m.

Teams are limited to five members including the drivers. Due to the coronavirus crisis, no spectators will be allowed. Pit passes are $30 each and there is a $20 entry fee per night.  Those fees are payable via cash or check only.

While no spectators will be allowed at the race, fans can still catch all the action online. Streaming details are available at the following link.
