CONCORD, N.C. – For the second time in the last four races, a little bit of luck has put Brad Keselowski at the front of the NASCAR Cup Series field.
Courtesy of a random draw, Keselowski will lead the field to the green flag in the No. 2 Team Penske Ford during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series Supermarket Heroes 500. Keselowski, who won the Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway, also started from the pole during The Real Heroes 400 on May 17 as the result of a random draw.
Aric Almirola, aboard the No. 10 Ford for Stewart-Haas Racing, will start Sunday’s race from the second position.
The starting lineup for Sunday’s race was determined via a random draw based on each charter team’s position in owner points. Positions 1-12 were chosen at random from teams in those positions in owner points. Positions 13-24 and 25-36 were determined the same way, with positions 37-40 available for non-charter teams based on their owner points position.
Joey Logano and Ryan Blaney will start third and fourth for Team Penske, followed by Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. and Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Matt DiBenedetto, Denny Hamlin, Alex Bowman and Kurt Busch filled the remainder of the top-12 positions.
