WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Bo Day opened the long-awaited Sooner Late Model Series season with a victory in the tour’s 30-lap feature at Monarch Motor Speedway on Friday.
In a show that was co-sanctioned with the Southern Touring Late Model Series, Patrik Daniel jumped off the outside front row into the early lead.
However, his lead was short lived as inside second-row starter Day charged to the front.
Day raced unchallenged, pulling away from Daniel as the race wore on. By the midway point, polesitter Austin Theiss took over second and chased Day to the checkered flag.
Daniel fell back to sixth, allowing Cody Leonard, Damian Patocka and Robbie Starnes to finish third through fifth, respectively.
