JEFFERSON, S.D. – Park Jefferson Speedway officials have cancelled Monday’s United States Modified Touring Series event.
Due to issues related to insurance, the track is unable to race while the township road south of the race track is open.
A request was made to Jefferson Township to temporarily close a small section of 700 feet of the road on race nights for four hours. Due to objections, the Township decided to leave the road open and has caused the track to cancel all racing in June.
“We are disappointed in this entire situation, but the safety of the Township needs to come first, which is why we requested the Township to close the road for a mere four hours on our race nights. Unfortunately, there was opposition to the closure. However, without insurance we cannot race, and they won’t allow it without the temporary road closure,” said track owner Adam Adamson.
