PORT ROYAL, Pa. – The 53rd running of the Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway will feature even more action than the event typically has in years past.

Track and All Star Circuit of Champions officials confirmed Wednesday morning that the 2020 Tuscarora 50 has been extended into a third day, and will now feature preliminary programs on both Thursday and Friday, Sept. 10-11.

The tradition-laden weekend will be capped with a 50-lap finale on Saturday, Sept. 12.

If weather intervenes, the event has a rain date of Sunday, Sept. 13.

The Tuscarora 50 is one of the most tradition-laden sprint car races in the Keystone State, having been contested 52 times annually since its inception in 1968.

Mitch Smith topped the first three runnings of the Tuscarora 50, while Pennsylvania Posse kingpin Lance Dewease is the all-time winningest driver in event history with six victories.

Dewease earned his first Tuscarora 50 win in 1994 and added subsequent scores in 2001, 2002, 2006, 2016 and 2017. He’s won the event for five different car owners, including Don Kreitz Jr., who Dewease has driven for since 2016.

Last year’s edition of the Tuscarora 50 featured a $52,000 winner’s share, which was collected by Clute, Texas native Aaron Reutzel. Trey Starks won the Friday preliminary.

Reutzel went on from his Tuscarora 50 win to claim his second All Star championship.
