SOMERSET, Ky. – Promoter Chris Tilley has announced scheduled adjustments to the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series and Brucebilt Open Wheel Series slates due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Four late model events have been held in the state of Tennessee so far, and unfortunately, the Open Wheel Series has lost 10 races due to the pandemic.
Kentucky state regulations have put a damper on crowds gathering for events, therefore Iron-Man series racing in the state has been put on hold. The series has revised the schedules to reflect the changes. The series hopes to get back to Kentucky in 2021 when the regulations are lifted.
“I hate it so bad for our racers, they work so hard on their equipment to be prepared to race. We also hate it for our great race fans that wanted to see us in Kentucky this year, hopefully some can travel south to watch our events,” said Tilley.
With the remaining five events on the late model schedule, more dates could be added in Georgia and Tennessee and there are currently six races on the now revised Autumn Nationals schedule for the Open Wheel Series. The champion will receive $5,000 for the Late Model Series and $2,000 for the Open Wheel Series.
Tilley has guaranteed both point funds based on 100 percent of racer attendance according to the rule book specifications.
The next event for the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series will be Friday, July 3 at Gary Hall’s Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway, paying $5,000-to-win.
