HOMESTEAD, Fla. – Chase Briscoe will be without his crew chief and two other crew members for four races after NASCAR suspended them on Sunday morning.

Briscoe’s crew chief Richard Boswell, car chief Nick Hutchins and engineer D.J. Vanderley were all suspended four races after a ballast weight fell from the race car during the pace laps prior to Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series Hooters 250 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The loss of the ballast forced sent Briscoe to pit road for repairs and delayed the start of Saturday’s race. He managed to rebound and finish seventh despite the adversity.

The suspensions will be in effect beginning with Sunday’s second race at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

This is the second time in the last month that a NASCAR team has been penalized for the loss of a ballast weight. Denny Hamlin’s team was hit with the same penalties when a ballast weight fell from his race car prior to the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24.
