Liverpool goalkeeper Adrian said that the club wants to surpass 100 points on the season in route to their first ever Premier League championship and first league crown in 30 years.

Premier League play resumes on Wednesday after a three-month hiatus due to the cornavirus pandemic. They have a 25-point lead over second place Manchester City, and have the possibility to capture the title should City lose to Arsenal on Wednesday and Liverpool then beat local rivals Everton on Sunday.

"We have a little step left but we are not going back down just to win those two games and put on our flip-flops. We want to return to win the nine games [remaining] if it's possible, exceed the 100 points and that, in the end, this team make history for everything we have done on the pitch," Adrian told ESPN Deportes.

City hold the record for most points achieved in a season, when they reached 100 points in their league-winning run last campaign. Liverpool can still reach 109 should they win out.

"A few days ago we had a meeting with [Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp] and the entire squad and we talked about all that, that this season is going to be historic for many things; obviously due to the virus, because the season had to be stopped and then we had to resume it ... but we want to make it historic for us, for Liverpool and for what we are achieving."

"No one can forget that we are 25 points ahead of the second, which is Manchester City, who are a great team and have a great squad," added Adrian. "What the team is doing since the beginning of the season has been magnificent."

Liverpool's march to the title will be done without fans in the stands as all Premier League matches will be held behind closed doors. Adrian said it will be difficult to play without the supporters but accepts the "new normality" of the times.

"It is something we must adapt. I have never played in empty stadiums and I believe most of my teammates haven't either...It will be strange to play [the Merseyside derby] without chants, the roar from the seats, and back-and-forth of the supporters from the rival side. It will be different."

The former West Ham United and Real Betis goalkeeper said he is looking forward to clinching his first league medal.

"At the personal level to earn a [Premier League trophy] isn't something done every day. It is my seventh year in the league and it is a personal objective and dream."

Klopp has promised Liverpool's fans a title parade when it is safe and said there will be no home advantage for any team when the games return behind closed doors.

"Football is back. It will be obviously for some reasons completely different but you can still make it really, really special," Klopp said in a video on Liverpool's website.

He added that the players would still feel their support despite the empty stands and that it would fuel their drive to the title.

"We'll use that but the final message [is]: Stay safe, support us from home."
