MECHANICSBURG, Pa. – After enduring a second hit by a torrential thunderstorm late in the afternoon on Friday, Williams Grove Speedway had no choice but to cancel its return to racing program slated for June 19.
The track had weathered a similar deluge earlier in the afternoon and maintained its plans to race until a second water-laden storm hit nearing the time to open speedway gates.
This sets up the speedway’s return to racing as the opener of the 30th annual Pennsylvania Speedweek Series for 410 sprint cars on Leffler Energy Night, coming up next Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m.
The speedweek 410 sprints will compete in time trials, heats and a 25-lap main in the speedweek series opener with the feature paying $5,000 to win.
The HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprint cars will round out the racing card.
