BRANDON, S.D. – The sale of Huset’s Speedway has been finalized with Minnesota businessman Tod Quiring acquiring the three-eighths-mile dirt track along with its assets.
Quiring also owns Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn., which he purchased in late 2015.
Huset’s Speedway will continue its storied tradition of Sunday programs with 410 Outlaw Sprint Cars as the featured division.
The first event under the new ownership will be Sunday, Aug. 2, during the C & B Operations Grand Reopening presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking.
A $20,000 top prize will be awarded to the winner of the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions main event, which also pays $1,000 to start. The Late Model Street Stock Touring Series is also on the program.
All Star Circuit of Champions owner Tony Stewart and Kyle Larson will be racing against many of the sport’s best sprint car drivers.
“We are honored to be a part of the grand re-opening of Huset’s Speedway,” said Stewart. “There have been rumors swirling around this facility for years and it’s pretty cool to know that there will be sprint cars back in just a few weeks. It’s obviously one of the nicest facilities in the world. Thank you to Tod and Doug for their hard work putting this together and for the call to be a part of it. What a weekend. We start in Plymouth (Wis.) on Thursday with the annual Rayce Rudeen Foundation race, continue to 34 Raceway on Friday, Knoxville Saturday and Huset’s Sunday. We can’t wait.”
This will mark the first time since the summer of 2014 that the All Star Circuit of Champions has competed at Huset’s Speedway. Ian Madsen and Rico Abreu split a pair of features a week apart in late July of that year.
Advanced tickets for the Aug. 2 event are available at www.HusetsSpeedway.com. All seating is general admission. VIP suites are available by calling 605-359-4955.
The pits will open at 2 p.m. with the grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Hot laps start the action at 7:30 p.m.
The rain date is Monday, Aug. 3.
Fans who purchased tickets to the All Star Circuit of Champions event scheduled for Jackson Motorplex on Friday, July 31, will receive a refund. The Jackson Motorplex tickets will not be valid at Huset’s Speedway.
In other schedule news, the Monster Truck Throwdown scheduled for Jackson Motorplex on Saturday, Aug. 1, has been moved to Huset’s Speedway on Saturday, Aug. 29. Gates will open at 4 p.m. with the start time scheduled for 7 p.m.
Huset’s Speedway will welcome the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series to town on Sept. 5-6 as the series invades the oval for a $20,000-to-win event. The Midwest Sprint Touring Series winged sprint cars will be the support class both days.
The season will wrap up with the Power Series Nationals on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18-19, featuring the DeKalb/Asgrow Midwest Power Series presented by GRP Motorsports and Midwest Sprint Touring Series competing for a $5,000-to-win top prize along with the RaceSaver sprint cars.
