FONDA, N.Y. – Stewart Friesen earned another victory in the Sunoco Modified division at Fonda Speedway on Wednesday evening.

His wife, Jessica Friesen, led the first five laps of the feature before giving way to multi-time Super DIRTcar Series champion Matt Sheppard on the sixth circuit.

Sheppard led until lap 13, when Danny Varin took over the top spot. Varin’s lead was brief, as Sheppard fought his way back into the lead on lap 14. Sheppard continued to lead until lap 23, when Stewart Friesen powered around Sheppard to lead the final eight laps of the feature.

Sheppard settled for second, followed by Larry Wight, Josh Hohenforst and Dave Constantino.

Nick Stone won the 15th running of the Hondo Classic for the Algonkin Pro Stock class while Brian Calabrese was the winner of the 25-lap Crate 602 Sportsman feature.
