CONCORD, N.C. – Aric Almirola will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series event at Texas Motor Speedway.
Almirola, driver of the No. 10 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford, was selected to start from the pole via a random draw. He’ll be joined on the front row by Team Penske driver Ryan Blaney.
Like previous events featuring no qualifying, positions 1-12 were determined via random draw for charter teams in those positions in owner points. Positions 13-24 and 25-36 were determined the same way, with positions 37-40 filled by open, no-charter teams based on their positions in owner points.
The Busch brothers, Kurt and Kyle, will start third and fourth. Kevin Harvick will start fifth, followed by Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Joey Logano and Martin Truex Jr.
