HOLLY, Mich. – Must See Racing Sprint Car Series presented by Engine Pro officials have canceled the planned Indyana Shootout, scheduled for Aug. 20-21 at the Indianapolis Speedrome.

The decision comes in the wake of COVID-19 restrictions announced by Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett last Thursday, including the restriction of all sporting events in the area to 25-percent capacity.

Hogsett’s restrictions came barely a day after a statewide mask mandate put into place by Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb.

In addition, several surrounding and MSR-relevant states have instituted COVID-19 travel guidelines that restrict travel for both series participants and attending race fans.

The Indyana Shootout was set to feature the Must See Racing winged 410 sprint cars as the headline division, as well as national midgets, TQ midgets, Figure 8 and front-wheel drive cars on the loaded event card.

“Based on the recent added governmental restrictions, it’s just not feasible to move forward with the planned two-day, multi-series event at the Speedrome,” explained Must See Racing President Jim Hanks. “We wanted very much to be able to make this event a success, and hope that we can set a new date for the Indyana Shootout when governmental guidelines allow for us to do so.

“Until then, we look forward to our upcoming 410 sprint car event at Wisconsin’s Golden Sands Speedway.”

Must See Racing plans to open its 2020 points season Aug. 7-8 with a two-day program at Golden Sands Speedway. The event will feature full features on both Friday and Saturday.
