DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is headed to Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park twice this season.
NASCAR announced two dates for the tour at the historic Connecticut track: Wednesday, Sept. 2, and as part of the 58th annual Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing on Oct. 10-11.
The race day for the World Series round will be announced later.
Thompson has held 146 Whelen Modified Tour races, and is joined by New York’s Riverhead Raceway as the only tracks to host the tour every since since its inception in 1985.
The tour has run three events: the opener at Pennsylvania’s Jennerstown Speedway, and twice at New Hampshire’s White Mountain Motorsports Park. Justin Bonsignore won the first two races and holds the points lead by nine over Doug Coby, who won the most recent event.
The next two races in August are at Jennerstown on Saturday, Aug. 22, and then at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, New Hampshire, on Saturday, Aug. 29.
