Captain: Rashid Khan
A fair shout for the best T20 bowler in the world, what Khan also brings is how difficult he is to pick overall. With circumstances being what they are and most players having not seen any competitive cricket for months, how much more difficult will it be to adjust straightaway against him? Throw in his useful batting and now, more than ever, Khan should be your captain.

Vice-captain: Chris Lynn
If the captain is from the Tridents, the vice-captain should be from the Patriots. Enter Lynn. As the most pedigreed opener on show, he has the best chance of batting deep and putting on a substantial score. His natural penchant for big-hitting will mean the score will come at a good pace too.

Hot picks

Mitchell Santner: He's among the most under-rated T20 bowlers going around, but he's an under-rated batsman too, and a more than safe fielder. Quite the whole package, which makes him one of our top picks.

Evin Lewis: Opener - check. Big-hitter - check. Capable of batting deep - check. Lewis has all the attributes that make him a straightforward pick in most fantasy sides. We wouldn't leave him out of ours.

Sohail Tanvir: He has been a very effective T20 bowler since ages, and despite all these years, his quirky bowling action is still difficult to pick for batsmen. Coming in cold after months of inaction isn't going to make Tanvir any easier to face, which makes him an easy pick for us.

Value picks

Joshua Da Silva: Among the most talented wicketkeeper-batsmen emerging in the Caribbean, Da Silva was also part of the West Indies squad that toured England. Though he didn't get game-time, having been part of the group and training outdoors might mean he's better prepared going into the CPL.

Alzarri Joseph: Young, quick and one of the few players with decent competitive game-time coming into the CPL. Joseph has shown before that he can be a devastating T20 bowler on his day.

Points to note

• This will be the second match played at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, after the CPL opener that features Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors. As such, you can expect a bit more wear and tear on the pitch than would be the case for a normal game.

• Overall, in eight T20 matches played here from 2017 to 2019, the batsmen have found the going tough, with run rates being just above seven per over. Hence picking top-order bats and bowlers would be the way to go.
