INDIANAPOLIS — The Hoosier Hundred will return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds mile dirt track on Sunday night, continuing a history that dates back to 1953.

Some of the world’s most famous race car drivers have won the Hoosier Hundred, led by four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt, who claimed six victories in the prestigious event between 1960 and 1969.

Al Unser, another four-time Indy winner, topped the Hoosier Hundred four consecutive years between 1970 and ’73. Kody Swanson also won four consecutive Hoosier Hundreds from 2014 through ’18.

Other Indy 500 winners to have won the Hoosier Hundred are Mario Andretti, Rodger Ward, Parnelli Jones, Bob Sweikert and Jimmy Bryan.

Sweikert won the first Hoosier Hundred in 1953 and Tyler Courtney won it last year.
