ROSSBURG, Ohio – Eldora Speedway officials, along with the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1, have announced an addition to the track’s calendar.
A new event – the Governors Reign – is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 22 and Wednesday, Sept. 23. Sanctioned by the All Star Circuit of Champions, the event is expected to attract several of the nation’s top stars from the 410-ci winged sprint car ranks.
Both nights of racing will be streamed on FloRacing.com and on the FloSports app. Spectators will not be permitted for either night of the Governors Reign.
The champion of Wednesday’s Governors Reign will earn $50,000, while feature race starters are guaranteed a minimum of $1,500 from a posted purse similar to that paid at the Kings Royal just a few years ago.
The preliminary feature on Tuesday night will pay a national series standard $10,000 to win and $800 to start. All non-qualifiers will be paid tow money.
In accordance with current Ohio Department of Health orders, the total number of participants is expected to be limited to 48 cars.
The Governors Reign will be the third pay-per-view event of the season run at Eldora. The Stream Invitational for dirt late models was run in June and the Intercontinental Classic, also for dirt late models, will be held Sept. 10-12.
Aaron Reutzel is the current All Star point leader and won last year’s All Star feature held at the Eldora half-mile, contested during the 4 Crown Nationals in late September.
