TROUTMAN, N.C. – Chris Madden has joined Rum Runner Racing beginning this weekend during the 28th annual Comp Cams Topless 100 at Batesville (Ark.) Motor Speedway.
Madden will drive a second car out of the Rum Runner Racing stable this weekend. The team’s primary driver, Pearson Lee Williams, will continue to pilot the No. 2 entry while Madden drives the No. 44.
Williams and Madden will be running alternate races throughout the rest of the season as the team transitions to a two-car program. Madden will focus on National events and the occasional regional event, while Williams will focus on regional races while also competing in occasional National events.
“It’s a great opportunity for all of us to complete the circle with the help of Rum Runner, Harold, my guys, and sponsors that are coming a long to help,” said Madden. “I think it’s a great chance for all of us as a group to work together and be a dominating, top class team. Batesville is probably one of my favorite places. I have been there multiple times, and I have almost always run extremely well there. Having won this race last year I think it’s a great place for us to kick off this new team and hopefully pick up another topless win.”
Madden was originally slated to contest the full World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series schedule this year for Scott Bloomquist Racing, but left the team in late June. He then teamed with Millwood Motorsports to chase the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Series title in July.
The combination of Millwood and Madden earned four victories and finished second in the Southern Nationals standings to champion Brandon Overton.
