JEFFERSON, S.D. – In its 50th year, Raceway Park has hosted racing on Sunday’s for years.
Improvements over the years have complemented the racy, high-banked quarter-mile located adjacent to Interstate 29.
Five IMCA divisions started with the sport compact main Sunday evening. The 87-year-old Don Tank led half the race before Ramsey Meyer used the low line in turn one to take the lead and eventual win. Meyer started 10th.
The hobby stock feature was filled with caution flags and shortened as a result. The nine laps that were scored featured a duel between Tony Fetterman and Andy Hoffman. After a few lead changes, Hoffman led the final two laps for the win.
The sport mods had a different leader each lap the first three times around the quarter-mile. Rusty Montagne was the third and final driver to lead, leading the final 14 laps to win.
Travis Barker started ninth in his stock car, but had the lead by lap two. His large lead went away with a yellow five laps shy of completion. A four-car battle filled the final five tours, but Barker held off the challenges to record the win.
The modified main event was controlled by Ricky Stephan in dominant fashion.
Kevin Bruck won the vintage stock car main.
