Henry Tops Pete Jacobs Memorial

ORRVILLE, Ohio — Cap Henry ended the three-day Labor Day weekend by winning the Pete Jacobs Memorial at Wayne County Speedway.

Henry staved off the challenge of fan favorite Jac Haudenschild during the second half of the 30-lap event to earn the $13,000 top prize.

“Just an incredible season,” noted Henry. “Just these guys, this car, everything is clicking, they are doing an amazing job. The whole team is just great, I am just so grateful.”

Tyler Street and Lee Jacobs would steer the field to the start as Street fired off into turn one. Off turn two Jacobs had the momentum and made the charge sailing past to take up the top spot and set sail.

Jacobs would stretch it out the first handful of laps, but by lap six Henry was in full charge mode and laying waste. A red flag would show when Trey Jacobs flipped in turn one.

Lee Jacobs led on the restart but Henry was all over him. Henry took the top spot on lap nine. At lap 10, Haudenschild zipped past Jacobs for second as well.

At half way, Henry and Haudenschild were putting on the show, Haudenschild could catch and stay with him to an extent, but getting by was a whole other ball game as the huge crowd came to its feet.

Tim Shaffer and Cale Conley wrestled past Jacobs to third and fourth, but they would never be a factor, it was all Henry and Haudenschild. A yellow at lap 17 looked to favor Haudenschild, but, ultimately, all it did was aid Henry with a clean track and no traffic as he sailed on. Haudenschild second, Shaffer third, Conley fourth and Cole Duncan fifth.

“Yeah, you know, like I said, it has been an incredible season,” stated Henry. “You dream of seasons like this, I am just enjoying it, the guys work so hard. I just enjoy it while we have it, this group of guys, it’s all a family, and I just can’t say enough it means a lot, so much fun. We have been making some money, and I am happy to share it with these guys. The car felt pretty good all night. Except for the Dash, I just couldn’t get the car to do what I wanted it to. So, when I brought it in, we talked, and Zach (Meyers, Crew Chief) went to work and the guys got it right, the car was awesome. I could drive it anywhere. It has been fun to win this many races this season, you just can’t take it for granted. I am just so proud of all these guys and this team.”
