PORT ROYAL, Pa. — Shane Stewart has sure driven his share of sprint cars this season. He’ll add another one to the list on Thursday night at Port Royal Speedway.
Stewart and Heffner Racing have each confirmed that the 44-year-old Oklahoma native will drive the familiar Heffner Racing No. 72 sprint car in the Tuscarora 50 weekend at the half-mile Pennsylvania dirt track.
The event is sanctioned by the Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions and Saturday night’s finale pays a whopping $53,000 to win.
Stewart has already driven cars fielded by Guy Forbrook, Wayne Johnson, Jason Sides and Indy Race Parts owner Bernie Stuebgen this season.
Stewart won a World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series feature at Pennsylvania’s Williams Grove Speedway, driving the Indy Race Parts No. 71 in July.
Team owner Mike Heffner announced in early August that the team and then-driver Ryan Smith was going to put a pause to the team’s racing efforts.
Earlier this week, Smith landed a new ride with BJD Motorsports.
