New Sprint Car Opportunity For Dylan Cisney

PORT ROYAL, Pa. – Dylan Cisney will make his debut behind the wheel of the Scott Cowman-owned winged sprint car this weekend during the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series doubleheader at Port Royal Speedway.

The Nittany Showdown on Friday and Saturday presents the only two scheduled races for the new partnership this year, before the team embarks upon an ambitious schedule in 2021.

“Scott has been a long-time car owner out in the Midwest,” Cisney said. “He lives in Wisconsin; that’s where his business and everything is. I’ve been using his motors for the last two years. We’re going to run a part-time schedule for him next year.

“Most of the races we’ll run for him will be centered around going to the Knoxville Nationals, which will be my first time racing in the prestigious event. In preparation for that we’ll go out and run a handful of weekly shows at Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway. We’ll also run some IRA Sprint Car Series races in his car.”

Cisney plans to continue to race his No. 5 in Central Pennsylvania when he isn’t piloting Cowman’s race car. Both teams will be housed in Cisney’s shop in Port Royal.

His long-time crew chief Jim Shreiner and crew members Adam Stull and Ethan “Ebob” Goss will be joined by Cowman’s crew members, Rob and Zach Zorn.

“I want to thank Scott and everyone who has played a part in this opportunity,” Cisney said. “I’ve been fortunate to have great partners with our racing team who are supportive of this opportunity that Scott has provided. A lot of people came together to make this happen and I’m grateful for their continued support.”

This weekend’s two-day event at Cisney’s home track presented the perfect opportunity for the debut.

“Everything is pretty much identical,” he said. “There are a few different options on his car, but we’re sticking with the main structure of my team with X-1 Chassis, HP Engines, Penske Shocks; everything that we’ve been working on is staying the same.

“Really the way everything is put together it’s like our team is breaking out a new car. Hopefully we can jump into this car and everything can work like how it’s been.”

Cisney is coming off his first career National Open feature start last Saturday at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he placed 19th in the A-main during the biggest paying sprint car race of the year.

Another stout field is expected this weekend at Port Royal Speedway, where Cisney ranks fourth in the championship standings. He scored a career-best third-place result during the famed Tuscarora 50 at Port Royal Speedway last month.
