ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Felix Rosenqvist’s agent, former driver Stefan Johansson, told SPEED SPORT Saturday morning that “the deal is not done yet” regarding where Rosenqvist will be racing next season.
It has been reported by two other outlets that Rosenqvist has signed a contract with Arrow McLaren SP, where the driver from Sweden would join Mexico’s Pato O’Ward in 2021.
But Johansson said nothing is signed and Rosenqvist remains in play regarding where he will compete in the future with the NTT IndyCar Series.
Rosenqvist is currently the driver of the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda at Chip Ganassi Racing. It has been reported that he would take over the ride currently held by Oliver Askew at Arrow McLaren SP.
But neither team, nor Rosenqvist or Johansson, have confirmed that is the case.
“We’re still working on it,” Johansson told SPEED SPORT. “All I can tell you is nothing is completed yet. Once it’s completed, then we’ll make an announcement.”
Earlier this week, Chip Ganassi Racing managing director Mike Hull was asked by SPEED SPORT about Rosenqvist’s status.
“I’ve noticed he’s been in the news lately, but we haven’t commented on it, if you’ve noticed,” Hull told SPEED SPORT. “We’d like to leave it that way and the reason is we aren’t trying to dodge the question; we are trying to win a championship with Scott Dixon. For us, that is the focal point.
“Felix is part of that championship and he’s a bright guy, he’ll have a lot of success. We’re looking forward to his contribution at St. Petersburg.”
Rosenqvist scored his first career NTT IndyCar Series victory in July in the second race of the REV Group Grand Prix at Road America, when he ironically tracked down O’Ward in the closing laps to win the race.
