Australia and Melbourne Renegades legspinner Georgia Wareham has been ruled out of the rest of the WBBL due to a bone stress reaction in her shin.
The full extent of the injury is not yet clear with further assessments to be done in the WBBL hub, but she will miss the remainder of the Melbourne Renegades campaign. At the halfway mark of the tournament they sit bottom of the table.
Wareham has been the Renegades standout bat this season scoring 139 runs at an average 46.33, striking at 146.31, including a maiden WBBL half century.
But her legspin has not been as effective claiming just three wickets and conceding 7.60 runs per over. Elly Donald has been added to the Renegades squad for Tuesday night's game against the Hobart Hurricanes.
The Renegades are hopeful New Zealand quick Lea Tahuhu could be available for the weekend's matches having not yet played a game this season due to a side injury.
