MONTICELLO, Iowa – Ralph G. Muller, a former modified eliminator racer and a longtime NHRA member, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5. He was 80 years old.
In the 1960’s, Muller built and raced a 1937 Chevrolet D/Gas coupe at area drag strips. During the early 1970’s, he raced his coupe at Division 5 points meets and at the U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.
Muller’s racing travels during the ’70s took him to Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota and Texas.
After that, Muller raced at area drag strips with a 1970 Chevrolet Camaro, and later, a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro.
Muller is survived by three brothers: Dean (Rose Mary), Galen and Tom. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Toni, as well as two nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eldon P. Muller.
