TULSA, Okla. – Clauson-Marshall Racing officials confirmed Chance Crum as the fourth of the team’s five drivers for the 35th Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals on Thursday morning.

The 23-year-old native of Snohomish, Wash., will take the wheel of the No. 47c for CMR during the Super Bowl of Midget Racing, with sponsorship from the Tony Elliott Foundation.

It marks Crum’s second attempt at the Chili Bowl and his first with the team co-owned by Tim Clauson and Richard Marshall.

“It’s definitely a really special opportunity to be able to race with Clauson-Marshall Racing, and at the Chili Bowl, no less,” Crum said. “It’s the opportunity of a lifetime, in my eyes. To be able to represent both the Tony Elliott Foundation and CMR, as both a driver and a longtime race fan, is really cool and I can’t put into words what it means to be associated with those brands.

“I hope to represent them well and I’m excited to chase success with them at the Chili Bowl next month.”

Crum previously drove for CMR in the season-ending USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget Series doubleheader at Merced (Calif.) Speedway in late November, making one of the two features in a Driven2SaveLives-backed No. 39 entry.

A past sprint car winner with the Brodix ASCS Frontier Region, Crum also has experience in the NRA Shootout Series and the Northwest Focus Midget Series, where he’s an 11-time feature winner.

Crum does have prior feature experience inside the River Spirit Expo Center, where the upcoming Chili Bowl Nationals will be held.

He made the main event in 1,200cc winged mini sprint competition during the 2017 edition of the Tulsa Shootout, starting 12th and racing to a 17th-place finish. He then backed that performance up in 2019, coming home seventh in the headlining Winged Outlaw class feature at the Tulsa Shootout.

Crum joins previously announced teammates Tyler Courtney, Cole Bodine and Ryan Newman as a part of the Clauson-Marshall squad for the Jan. 11-16 midget classic.

He is tentatively scheduled to race the Thursday preliminary night, according to the team.
