TULSA, Okla. — The 36th annual Lucas Oil Tulsa Shootout presented by Super Clean kicked off Wednesday with 99 heat races among five divisions.

Action wrapped up just before 8:30 p.m. local time with 792 laps of competition in the books.

Looking through the best performances so far, four drivers were able to run to wins from eighth or deeper with Indiana’s Tyler Courtney making the most impressive run from ninth during his A-Class Heat Race, however, being a late check-in, the run was only worth finishing points.

While Courtney made the run to the front from the deepest starting spot, Oklahoma’s Christopher Bell was the only driver to go from eight to first twice; doing so in Race No. 21 (Outlaw Non-Wing) and Race No. 85 (A-Class).

Justin Zimmerman and Joe B. Miller were the only other two to win from the right of the fourth row.

Overall, 84 drivers earned at least one heat race win so far.

Racing continues Thursday, Dec. 31 with Race No. 100 of the week kicking off the day’s action. Thursday’s scheduled stopping point is Race No. 182.

Masks are required while inside the River Spirit Expo Center. Those who are not wearing one will be escorted out of the event.
