Detroit Pistons rookie guard Killian Hayes is out indefinitely with a torn labrum in his right hip.
The Pistons announced that an MRI performed Tuesday confirmed the diagnosis.
Hayes will "continue to be evaluated by team medical staff and further updates will be provided as appropriate," the team said Wednesday in a statement.
Hayes, 19, suffered the injury in Monday's loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. Pistons coach Dwane Casey said at the time that he believed Hayes had a hip flexor injury.
The 6-foot-5 Hayes was the seventh overall pick in last year's NBA draft but has struggled in his rookie season with the Pistons, averaging 4.6 points and 3.6 assists while shooting just 27.7% from the floor.
