CARS Tour Opening Season At Dillon

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – For the first time in series history, the Solid Rock Carriers CARS Tour will open its season in the state of South Carolina with the series’ first visit to Dillon Motor Speedway.

The event will be held on March 6 and feature the CARS Late Model Stock Tour. The addition of Dillon as the season opener comes after the decision to move the previously scheduled season opener at Rockingham (N.C.) Speedway to Oct. 30.

The four-tenths-mile track just off interstate 95 in Dillon, S.C., is owned and operated by former NASCAR competitor Ron Barfield. The track will open its season this weekend with the New Year’s Bash for street stocks.

“We’ve got a great event to kick off the 2021 season this weekend, but when you talk about hosting the CARS Late Model Stock Car season opener on March 6 it doesn’t get any bigger and better than that,” said Barfield. “It is a big thing to have the CARS Tour at our little track here in Dillon, and the fact that it is the season opener is the best possible scenario you could ask for.”

Dillon Motor Speedway will be the third new track to host a CARS Tour event this year, joining Caraway Speedway on May 22 and Rockingham Speedway on Oct. 30. The early March event will complete the CARS Tour schedule with a record 14 late model stock car races and eight super late model races.

“I think this adds to our aggressive and abundant schedule for the 2021 season. The diversity and the advancement of the 2021 schedule should have both fans and competitors excited to watch CARS Tour events this season,” said CARS Tour Series Director Chris Ragle. “I think Dillon makes for a great addition to the schedule and great destination for fans and competitors alike to see the season open at new and unknown facility to late model stock car regulars.”
