LEXINGTON, N.C. – Kaulig Racing officials have announced the team is expected to compete in a limited number of NASCAR Cup Series races this season.

With plans in motion to expand to a full-time NASCAR Cup Series team in the future, Kaulig Racing will get its feet wet by competing in road course and superspeedway events, in addition to the 63rd Daytona 500.

The team made its NASCAR Cup Series debut last season, with Justin Haley driving for the team in the 62nd Daytona 500 at Daytona Int’l Speedway. Haley finished 13th in the team’s debut.

“Kaulig Racing is always building toward the future, and I believe this is the next step in that process,” said team owner, Matt Kaulig. “We have the ultimate goal of becoming a powerhouse team in the Cup Series, and we are excited to continue our team’s growth.”

The team has stepped up its performance in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in recent years, which included Haley earning three wins and racing his way to the Championship 4 finale at Phoenix Raceway last November.

“From where we started in a go-kart shop to a now championship-contending team, I have seen the growth of Kaulig Racing first-hand over the last five years,” said team president, Chris Rice. “It has been a privilege to be able to have Matt Kaulig’s trust in establishing ourselves as a competitive team in one of NASCAR’s top series, and I am confident we are ready to take that next step as an organization.”

Kaulig Racing will make announcements regarding drivers and potential events to come at a later date.
