Smith Does It Again In Louisiana

CHATHAM, La. — Pennsylvania’s Mark Smith won his third USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters feature of the season during the opening night of the third annual USCS Bayou State Sprint Car Nationals on Saturday night at Louisiana’s Chatham Speedway.

Smith best a field of 33 winged sprint car entries after also winning his heat race to place himself on the K&N Filters Pole Position for the 30-lap event.

Oklahoma’s Matt Covington started outside the front row. Smith won the race for the lead on lap one and never lost the point.

Covington finished where he started in the runner-up spot followed by USCS Southern Thunder Tour regional series champion Connor Leoffler from in third place.

Dale Howard and Max Stambaugh completed the top five.
