Chaired by HPD Manager Dominique Plattner and ITTF High Performance Elite Coach Massimo Costantini, the session’s guest speaker providing expert analysis on the subject was ITTF Head of Equipment Claudia Herweg.
Showcasing just some of the trials and tribulations of the development process, the presentation provided a fascinating insight behind the scenes, shedding light on the rigorous procedural steps of rubber production and the influence of colour moving forwards.
The latter discussion is of particular interest right now following ITTF Equipment’s decision to greenlight four new colour options in 2021: pink, violet, green and blue. Expanding the colour options will allow players to customise their racket to better reflect their personality, while those who prefer can continue with the traditional red and black combination.
Rounding off the proceedings, the webinar concluded with an in-depth Question and Answer session, touching on the importance of player feedback and details relating to the development process.
