GLYNDON, Minn. – The Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Ass’n has added a race at the newly-reopened Buffalo River Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 8.
Buffalo River Speedway is one of the Minnesota valley’s longest running tracks, set for a big year this season after being sidelined all of last year due to COVID-19.
With the new year comes new management to the facility, but a familiar name for the quarter-mile clay oval previously referred to as Buffalo River Race Park.
Buffalo River Speedway has hosted 10 NOSA events over the past nine seasons, with Dave Glennon being the series’ inaugural winner in 2013.
Wade Nygaard leads all drivers with four career NOSA wins at the speedway. Austin Pierce has a pair of wins, which came in 2015 and ’16.
During the most recent event on Sept. 1, 2019, former series champion Nick Omdahl broke the Buffalo River Speedway track record during heat race action. Omdahl set a lap of 11.685 seconds, averaging 77.022 mph.
The previous track record was set by Austin Pierce on Sept. 6, 2015, a lap of 11.987 seconds.
Racing will begin at 6 p.m. on Aug. 8.
