CJB Upgrades McMahan To Full All Star Season

CARLISLE, Pa. – CJB Motorsports has taken on a new look for the remainder of the FloRacing All Star Circuit of Champions season, starting this weekend in Central Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Following the departure of Brent Marks from the organization, team officials confirmed Thursday evening that veteran Paul McMahan will step in to run the remainder of the All Star season and contend for the series championship in the team’s familiar No. 5 car.

RE Pierson Constructions, Nyce, Crete and Landis Block and Concrete, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn & Landscape and High Performance Lubricants will serve as marketing partners for McMahan’s effort.

The shift in plans puts McMahan back on the full All Star trail for the fourth consecutive season.

“Paul will be in our yellow No. 5 car with a much bigger schedule than originally planned,” noted CJB team manager and crew chief Barry Jackson. “He will run the entire All Star schedule, as well as all of the big marquee events like the (twin) Kings Royals, the Knoxville Nationals, the Ironman (55), and the National Open.

“CJB made a commitment to the All Stars to have a car with their series for the entire season and we felt it was important to honor that commitment,” Jackson continued.

McMahan spent the last three years driving the Buch Motorsports No. 13 with the All Stars, collecting two wins, 32 top-five and 78 top-10 finishes during that time span.

He returned to CJB, the team he spent three-and-a-half years with from 2012-’15, during the World of Outlaws Last Call in November at The Dirt Track at Charlotte and originally planned to run a “true outlaw” schedule of races this season before Thursday’s announcement adjusted that plan.

McMahan sits 13th in the All Star point standings entering a tripleheader weekend at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., Sharon (Ohio) Speedway and Tri-City Raceway Park in Franklin, Pa.

He’s made four of the five points-paying All Star features this season, with two top fives and three top 10s to his credit. He’s 162 markers behind current point leader Justin Peck.

McMahan’s most recent of his five All Star victories came June 15, 2018, during the Ohio Sprint Speedweek opener at Attica (Ohio) Raceway Park. He won 13 World of Outlaws features with CJB.

In addition to McMahan’s full-time All Star campaign, CJB Motorsports will also field a second car part time, with Buddy Kofoid and Spencer Bayston sharing the seat of the renumbered No. 5x machine.
