FORT WORTH, Texas – With bad weather conditions postponing the start of practice nearly two hours, NTT IndyCar Series officials have made changes to Saturday’s schedule of events at Texas Motor Speedway.
Qualifications for the race have been canceled and the race has been moved up to 7:10 p.m. ET from it’s scheduled 7:45 p.m. ET start.
The starting lineup for the Genesys 300 will be determined by entrant points, which means Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou will start on the pole. The starting lineup for Sunday’s XPEL 375 will be based on entrant points following Saturday night’s race.
That’s bad news for Tony Kanaan, who was the fastest driver early during the lone practice session at Texas Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 48 for Chip Ganassi Racing had logged a top speed of 220.173 mph with nearly 30 minutes left in practice.
Teammate Scott Dixon was second at 219.723 mph. Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud is currently third at 219.708 mph, followed by James Hinchcliffe’s Honda and Graham Rahal’s Honda.
A full practice report will be available on SPEEDSPORT.com once the session is complete.
