Warriors' Oubre to be reevaluated next week

SAN FRANCISCO -- Golden State Warriors swingman Kelly Oubre Jr. will not need surgery on his injured left wrist and will be reevaluated later next week, the team announced prior to Thursday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Oubre injured the wrist initially in an April 9 loss to the Washington Wizards. He returned after missing five games before aggravating the injury in an April 27 loss to the Dallas Mavericks and has not played in a game since.

An MRI on Wednesday reconfirmed previous imaging results "of a small avulsion fracture and ligament tear of the wrist" and did not show a new injury.

"Actually, it was sort of expected, to be honest with you," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said prior to Thursday's game. "Not as much a relief as it is, this is what we thought. It's just a matter of he's in a lot of pain. So it's just going to have to heal and we'll see how long that takes ... hopefully we can get him back. We'll just have to wait and see."

Kerr said that Oubre is doing conditioning to try and keep his wind up as he waits for clearance to return to the floor. Oubre is averaging 15.4 points and six rebounds a game this season.
