Japan’s Jun Mizutani and Mima Ito have dispatched Chinese Taipei’s Cheng I-Ching and Lin Yun-Ju from the number one spot in the latest Senior Mixed Doubles Pairs position on the recently released ITTF Table Tennis World Ranking.

The Japanese pair, who created history by winning the Mixed Doubles gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, previously occupied the second spot behind the Chinese Taipei duo.

In the Senior Men’s Singles ranking, Germany’s Dimitrij Ovtcharov moved up to seventh place following his epic battle with Lin, where he emerged victorious in a seven-game thriller to win his second Olympics Singles bronze medal.

China’s Ma Long meanwhile switched places with compatriot Xu Xin and occupies his second spot now after his heroics in Tokyo, where he was crowned Olympic Men’s Singles champion for the second time.

Lin Yun-Ju, who won the Mixed Doubles gold medal with partner Cheng I-Ching also made his move in the Men’s Singles ranking by taking fifth place while Brazil’s Hugo Calderano slipped a spot down to eighth.

Slovenia’s Darko Jorgic, who stunned Japan’s Tomokazu Harimoto in the Men’s Singles Round of 16 at the Tokyo Games, continued his rise in the ranking by moving three spots to 25th whilst Egypt’s Omar Assar also jumped seven spots to 36th place.

Other significant moves in the Senior Men’s Singles include Slovenia’s Bojan Tokic rising five spots to 61st, American Nikhil Kumar in 168th (+9) and Singapore’s Clarence Chew (178th + 8)

China’s Chen Meng, who won the Women’s Singles gold medal, retains pole position whilst compatriot Sun Yingsha moved to second place as Japan’s Mima Ito dropped to third in the Senior Women’s Singles ranking.

Japan’s Kasumi Ishikawa jumped a spot up to ninth while Singapore’s Feng Tianwei, who crashed out of the Women’s singles round of 16 to Germany’s Han Ying, slipped to 10th. Han, meanwhile headed inside the top 20 from her previous 22nd position.

Singapore’s Yu Mengyu, who shocked Cheng by eliminating her at the Women’s Singles quarter-final, made of the biggest moves by surging 16 spots up to 31st place. Austria’s Jia Liu and Jian Fang Lay also made massive jumps by taking 90th and 145th place respectively.
