Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts has been diagnosed with a bone spur in his right hip and is still day-to-day, but there are no plans at this point for him to have surgery, manager Dave Roberts told reporters Friday.

Roberts said there is no immediate timetable for Betts to return. He has had an injection to alleviate the pain, will try to play through the injury when he returns and then address it following the season.

Betts, who is batting .277 with 17 home runs and 44 RBIs in 87 games for the defending World Series champions, flew back to Los Angeles from Philadelphia and was placed on the injured list Wednesday.

He left an Aug. 6 game against the Los Angeles Angels in the sixth inning because of right hip discomfort. He played the following day, but hasn't played since.

Betts, the 2018 American League MVP with Boston, signed a 12-year, $365 million contract last season with the Dodgers through 2032.
