Meanwhile, in the under 21 women’s singles; direct entries to the second round, the leading names enjoyed success. Russia’s Mariia Tailakova beat the Czech Republic’s Gabriela Stepanova (11-4, 11-6, 11-6), India’s Archana Girish Kamath overcame Sweden’s Matilda Hansson (11-5, 14-12, 11-4).

The leading names in the under 21 men’s singles event, India’s Manav Vikash Thakkar and Bastien Rembert were not called to action.

Play in the qualification event concludes in Sunday 22nd August.
