Karishma Ramharack, Cherry-Ann Fraser in West Indies squad for South Africa T20I series decider

West Indies have announced two changes to their 13-member squad for the series-deciding third T20I against South Africa, with Cherry-Ann Fraser and Karishma Ramharack replacing Shamilia Connell and Shakera Selman.

Both Connell and Selman went wicketless in the first two T20Is and were West Indies' most expensive frontline bowlers. Connell leaked 43 runs in her five overs combined whereas Selman had identical figures of 3-0-27-0 in the two games.

Offspinner Ramharack had picked up three wickets in two ODIs during the home series against Pakistan in July. She had subsequently featured in a one-dayer during the A series between the two countries that ran concurrently in the Caribbean, and has played five ODIs and six T20Is to date.

Seam bowler Fraser, who has just one international appearance against her name - a T20I against England in September 2020 - played all six limited-overs A games against Pakistan.

Ann Browne-John, the Cricket West Indies (CWI) lead selector for women's cricket, said in a release: "The 2nd T20I did not materialize the performances hoped for, however the 3rd CG Insurance T20I gives the team a chance to level the series. It would require all players lifting their performance. One of the bright spots so far in the series has been the bowling of the young player, Qiana Joseph.

"Another spinner, Karishma Ramharack, has been brought in along seamer Cherry Ann Fraser to replace the two seamers Shamilia Connell and Shakera Selman. It also gives the selectors a chance to see additional players before we go into the CG Insurance ODI series."

West Indies lost the second T20I by 50 runs while the first T20I was washed out after 22.5 overs. The decider is scheduled for Saturday, which will then be followed by the five-match ODI series, starting September 7 in Coolidge.

Squad for the third T20I: Anisa Mohammed (capt), Deandra Dottin (vice-capt), Aaliyah Alleyne, Britney Cooper, Cherry-Ann Fraser, Shabika Gajnabi, Chinelle Henry, Qiana Joseph, Kycia Knight, Kyshona Knight, Hayley Matthews, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack
