Owing to the pandemic no tournament was staged last year but there are plenty of familiar names on the entry lists who enjoyed success in 2019.

Six players aim to once again secure gold.

Brazil’s Thais Severo, women’s singles class 2-5 gold medallist in 2019, competes as notably does the silver medallist, Argentina’s Maria Garrone.

In the men’s singles event, the host nation’s Elias Romero, the class 5 winner, will be on duty as will be Brazil’s Claudio Massad, successful in class 10.

Major challengers once again for honours but it is from Chile that the biggest challenge emanates.

Luis Bustamente, Maximiliano Rodriguez and Ignacio Torres all make the journey to Buenos Aires.

Two years ago, Luis Bustamente won class 2, Maximiliano Rodriguez succeeded in class 4, Ignacio Torres in class 6.

Silver medallists

Likewise, a host of silver medallists two years ago in the men’s singles events compete; Argentina very much in evidence.

Runners up: Guillermo Bustamente (class 1) will be on duty, as will Gabriel Copola (class 3), Rodrigo Demoor (class 6), Aleksey Kaniuka (class 7) and Pablo Krotsch (class 8).

Also, from Argentina, silver medallist in 2019 in women’s singles class 7-10, Giselle Muñoz competes.

Similarly, Brazil’s Ecildo Oliveira, the class 4 silver medallist two years ago will be in action, as will colleague João Nascimento who finished in runners up spot in class 8.

Bronze medallists

Gold medallists and silver medallists from 2019; also, there are bronze medallists. The host country’s Giuliano Balbi (class 5) and Dario Neira (class 10) once again ply their skills.

A total of 64 men and 12 women, representing seven member associations compete in Buenos Aires.
