Detroit Pistons leading scorer Jerami Grant will be sidelined for at least six weeks because of a UCL sprain of his right thumb, the team announced Sunday.
The team said the forward's injury happened during the second quarter of Friday's 109-93 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans, the Pistons' 11th straight defeat.
The nature of his injury was confirmed by tests performed Saturday and he will be re-evaluated by the team's medical staff in six weeks.
Grant is averaging 20.1 points per game to lead the Pistons. He is shooting 41.4% on 3-point attempts.
The Pistons have the NBA's worst record at 4-21 entering Sunday's game against the Brooklyn Nets.
