Members of the ITTF Executive Committee have arrived in Singapore, where they will experience first-hand the first-ever WTT Grand Smash. While in Singapore, they will hold their next meeting on Tuesday 15 and Wednesday 16 March.

On the agenda for the meeting are the upcoming Chengdu 2022 World Team Table Tennis Championships and Durban 2023 World Individual Championships preparations. With the dates now confirmed (30 September – 9 October), discussions will be held around the preparations for the Annual General Meeting.

The Executive Committee will also discuss the elections for the Athletes Commission, which are due in 2022, and about bid processes for future world championships. The meeting will also receive progress reports from the different areas of the ITTF Group.

Following the ITTF Executive Committee meeting, the ITTF Continental Council will meet on 17 March, also in Singapore. Olympic and Paralympic Games Qualification system, World Championships Qualification system and Master Continental Agreements are the main points of the agenda for this meeting.

President Petra Sörling and the Chair of the Athletes’ Commission, Zoran Primorac, also seized this opportunity to spend time with the players and their coaches. With WTT Managing Director, they organised a meet-and-greet to give everyone a chance to share their impressions of the event.

Primorac commented, “World Table Tennis is transforming professional table tennis events and it is important that we listen to the players and their entourage. The Athletes’ Commission is representing the voice of the players, so we are making sure their voice is heard.”

“We received very positive feedback, especially regarding the sport presentation, the training facility, and the accommodations. All these changes are happening in the athletes’ best interests, and we all share this feeling that our sport has reached another level.”
