Brazilians maintain form, Copa Tango concludes in Buenos Aires

A total of ten titles on offer on the final day of play, Sunday 10th July, at the Copa Tango 2022 in the Argentine capital city of Buenos Aires, there was more gold for those who had enjoyed success one day earlier.

Delighting home supporters, Elias Romero, the men’s singles class 5 winner, combined with compatriot Gabriel Copola, to secure men’s doubles class 8 gold.

More honours for Argentina but the lion’s share was claimed by Brazil.

Paulo Fonseca who had secured the men’s singles class 7 title at the expense of Paulo Salmin, partnered his colleague to men’s doubles class 14 gold.

Similarly, Sophia Kelmer, the women’s singles class 7-8 winner, claimed the top prize in women’s doubles class 20 partnering Danielle Rauen; Thais Severo, gold in women’s singles class 2-5, joined forces with Ezequiel Babes to win mixed doubles class 17.

Success for Danielle Rauen meant she also departed Buenos Aires with two titles. She partnered colleague, Luiz Manara to mixed doubles class 17 gold, the win coming after Luiz Manara had joined forces with Claudio Massad to claim men’s doubles class 18 gold.

Adding to men’s singles gold of one day earlier, adding to the success of two days earlier was the outcome for Cuba’s Yunier Fernandez. The men’s singles class 1 winner on the opening day of action, he struck gold in men’s doubles class 5 alongside Brazil’s Iranildo Espindola.

Gold for Cuba, it was the same in women’s doubles class 7, Yanelis Silva enjoyed success partnering Argentina’s Veronica Blanco.

Likewise, Argentina added to their tally of titles in the guise of Mauro Depergola and Nayla Kuell, they emerged the mixed doubles class 10 winners.

Meanwhile, as play concluded, there was gold for Chile; Ignacio Torres and Florenca Perez emerged successful in mixed doubles class 10.

Attention now turns to south east Asia, the four day ITTF Thailand Para Open commences on Monday 21st July.
