CONCORD, N.C. – Martin Truex Jr. will lead the NASCAR Cup Series field to the green flag during Sunday’s GEICO 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Truex, driver of the No. 19 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota, was selected to start from the pole via a random draw that set the starting lineup for Sunday’s race. He’ll be joined on the front row by his Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Denny Hamlin.

Like previous events featuring no qualifying, positions 1-12 were determined via random draw for charter teams in those positions in owner points. Positions 13-24 and 25-36 were determined the same way, with positions 37-40 filled by open, no-charter teams based on their positions in owner points.

Kyle Busch will start third, giving Joe Gibbs Racing the top-three starters in the race. Jimmie Johnson will start fourth, followed by Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, Kurt Busch, Alex Bowman, Joey Logano and Clint Bowyer.
