The big event of the week was the NN Valencia World Record Day, where Joshua Cheptegei and Letesenbet Gidey smashed the global 10,000m and 5000m marks respectively.

The 2016 world half-marathon medallist Bedan Karoki won the 10,000m with 27:08.91 as Philemon Kiplagat set a world junior lead of 27:46.67
Nagasaki, Japan, October 11
Kenyan Benard Koech won the 10,000m in 27:31.13.
Norwegian Cross Country Championships, Skien, October 11
There were easy wins for Filip Ingebrigtsen at 10km in 29:23 and Karoline Grovdal at 6km in 19:04.
Orem, USA October 10
American discus thrower Niklas Arrhenius won with a 63.90m effort.
Bob Graham Round, Lake District, October 11
George Foster clocked 13:44 for the 66-mile and 42-peak Bob Graham Round in the Lake District.
It is the second fastest ever time behind Kilian Jornet’s 12:52 record set in 2018.
Jornet’s mark had broken Billy Bland’s record from 1982 by more than an hour.

Sofia Wizz Air Marathon, Sofia, Bulgaria, October 11
There were course records for Ukrainian Viktoriya Khapilina (2:27:57) and Moroccan master Youssef Sbai in 2:13:03.
The latter shared the winning time with countryman Radan Nouini.
Podebrady, Czech Republic, October 10
There were 20km race walk wins for Italy’s Antonella Palmisano in 1:28:40 and Sweden’s world bronze medallist Perseus Karlstrom in 1:19:43.
Hammer Circle Members Competition, Woodford, October 10
Lara Moffat, the top-ranked under-17 hammer thrower with the 3kg implement, set a PB 51.17m with the 4kg hammer.
Janet Smith increased her advantage at the top of the combined W50 and W55 rankings with a 42.65m throw to go second all-time in the W55 rankings to Evaun Williams’ 26 year-old mark.
Warwick Dixon, who had set a M85 UK record at Dartford last month with a 31.34m throw, bettered the previous record again but this time had to settle for a 27.98m throw.
London Hurdles and Middle Distance Open Event, October 11
European Masters M55 800m champion Andrew Ridley set a UK M55 lead over two laps of 2:09.28.
Clare Elms, the UK masters athlete of the year in 2019, set an outdoor W55 1500m lead of 4:58.23.
RunThrough Tatton 10km, October 11
Christoper Gidlow (33:01) and Emilia Platt (38:52) won the 10km
Dorney Lake Windsor Half Marathon, October 10
Andrew Cumine (70:58) and Georgie Bruinvels (78:10) enjoyed clear wins.
