True Outlaw Schedule For Paul McMahan & CJB

CARLISLE, Pa. – Veteran racer Paul McMahan will enjoy a homecoming to Pennsylvania-based CJB Motorsports for the upcoming sprint car season.

McMahan will take the wheel of the renumbered No. 23 entry for the team in a true outlaw schedule this year, running more than 50 races, including Pennsylvania Speedweek and the 60th Knoxville Nationals.

RE Pierson Construction will serve as the main sponsor of McMahan’s effort this year.

While the majority of McMahan’s planned races are with the All Star Circuit of Champions, McMahan noted he’s not pinning himself specifically to one series so he doesn’t have to worry about counting points through the year.

“I’m just really looking forward to being back at CJB Motorsports again and working with Barry,” McMahan said. “Chad (Clemens) and Barry (Jackson, crew chief) have always been like family to me, even after we split back in 2015. I want to be a good teammate to Brent, as well. I think we will really help each other out at the track when we race together.

“The schedule we put together was something Barry and I worked on so we weren’t locked down to a series schedule. We’ll run where it makes sense and hit the big-money shows.”

Additional highlights on McMahan’s calendar include Kings Royal week at Eldora Speedway, the Ironman 55 weekend at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., and the Tuscarora 50 tripleheader at Port Royal (Pa.) Speedway.

McMahan’s return to CJB Motorsports comes after he ran a second car for the team alongside Marks during the season-ending World of Outlaws Last Call weekend in November.

The Nashville, Tenn., native raced under team owner Chad Clemens from 2013-15, earning a pair of third-place points finishes with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. McMahan earned 12 WoO feature wins during his previous CJB tenure.

He’s been inside the top five in All Star points in each of the last three seasons.

McMahan transitions back to CJB from the Tom Buch No. 13, which will be wheeled on the All Star tour this year by Indiana’s Justin Peck.
